Employment Type : Full-time, 9-month faculty position starting August 2026

The University of Jamestown invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music Education and Director of Bands to join our team beginning Fall 2026. We seek a highly effective teacher, instrumental ensemble conductor, and an enthusiastic recruiter who will continue to build the instrumental music program while working collaboratively with other faculty members within the department.  Applicants must be committed to liberal arts undergraduate education and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship/creative activity, and service.  Relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach rotating courses in:
  • Elementary/Secondary Music Education
  • Conducting
  • General Music
• Conducting the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Pep Band. 
• Instruction of applied lessons/techniques in either brass or woodwinds. 

Qualifications :

• An earned doctorate in Music Education or Wind Conducting is preferred. 
• Candidates with a master's degree and significant experience as a music teacher in the public schools will also be considered.
