Responsible for monitoring the filtering, loading, and movement of different latex products to assigned trailer/railcars to maintain plant production and customers on-time shipments. The Loader Operator will work alongside the shipping clerk to maneuver and load tank trucks and rail cars for the loading of latex to ship the finished product directly to various customers. The Loader Operator, after receiving the appropriate training, will safely unload raw material rail cars into their respective storage tanks, and complete the receiving in SAP for inventory tracking. This will periodically include raw material tank trucks as well as box trucks with totes that require maintaining a forklift certification. The employee will routinely use a computer to maintain training certifications, monitor emails, complete maintenance requests and complete other computer-based tasks as assigned.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities with % Breakdown:

Identify the major activities or responsibilities of the job (usually 4 to 6). Using a short phrase name or list each activity; estimate the percentage of time spent on each one. Then describe each activity in detail, and how it is done. Use increments of 10% and higher.

 

Material Handling – 70%

  • Monitor loading of different latex products to maintain an acceptable flow of material to the trailer/railcar.
  • Allocate and coordinate trailers to be transported from the loading station to the staging yard in a timely manner.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures associated with the manual cleaning of multiple latex filters to maintain an acceptable flow of material to the container.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines to safely load various containers for shipment. Complete the movement of material from trailer to trailer, trailer to tank, and trailer to railcars, depending on the specific blending activity needed and deliver relevant samples to the lab for testing.
  • Ownership of the blend tank storage tank and associated equipment.
  • Assist with the delivery of samples brought in from trans-loading facility to the ACR lab for testing.
  • Work closely with control board operator to maintain operations.
  • Responsible for the safe sampling and unloading of raw material rail cars and tank trucks into their storage tanks.
  • Assist the Day Auxiliary Operator with cleaning of finished latex storage tanks.
  • Warehouse operations include unloading material totes.

 

Data Entry – 15%

  • Ensure shipping and receiving documentation is in compliance with plant procedures
  • Work with automated equipment (i.e. computer controlled)
  • Perform good receipts (receiving material) using SAP system.
  • Keep accurate monitoring reports/logs, including documentation of specific loading/unloading events.
  • Follow up these communications in writing, telephone or e-mail as needed.
  • Routine use of a computer to communicate via e-mail, complete online training and other tasks as assigned.

 

Safety & Other Duties – 15%

  • Understand the hazards and risks associated with handling various chemicals and chemical products.
  • Attend daily meetings and provide routine communication to the daily loading activities and associated production needs.
  • Complete equipment isolation and decontamination, apply Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and author and authorized Safe Work Permits for equipment maintenance.
  • Follow and maintain housekeeping and safety procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Maintain forklift certification and operate all powered equipment in an efficient and safe manner-
  • Cover overtime or open spots to maintain plant productions as needed.
  • To follow the direction of shift team leaders/supervisors.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required

Min Years of Experience

  • 1-3 years warehousing or logistics experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy, including email and data entry is required. SAP is preferred.

 

Education and area of focus

 

  • High school diploma or graduate equivalency required.

 

Certifications/Trainings:

  • Previous forklift or powered industrial equipment license or certification is preferred.
  • Basic experience pulling and backing trailers preferred.
  • Maintain training to ship hazardous and dangerous goods internationally and domestically maybe required as on the job training.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while acting as a strong team member.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Able to show ownership and deliver results.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, work from ladders, scaffolding or powered lifts when required.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights, use respirators, working outdoors in extreme temperatures when required.
  • Work is primary performed outside during all seasons.
