As an HHW (Houehold Hazardous Waste) Technician, you’ll play a key role in helping residents safely dispose of materials that cannot be thrown away through regular waste channels. This hands-on role is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy active work, supporting community safety, and gaining exposure to environmental services.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Safely offload cars and unload household hazardous materials onto waste segregation tables.
• Sort and segregate household hazardous waste by category following established procedures and training.
• Participate in the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of HHW event sites and work areas.
• Direct traffic through the HHW lane to ensure safe and efficient flow.
• Maintain full compliance with all safety protocols, PPE requirements, EHS regulations, and environmental policies.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant throughout event operations.
• Understand and adapt to the nuances and scope differences between various HHW events.
• Support event staff to ensure efficient operations and a positive resident experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Do you have what it takes?

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of or interest in environmental services, waste handling, or related fields (preferred but not required)
• Ability to follow directions and work safely in a fast-paced, physical environment
• Reliable transportation to event locations
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Able to lift and move containers of varying weights with proper technique
