Summary:

As a Garden Maintenance Manager, you will combine your horticultural expertise and leadership skills to oversee the care of premium residential gardens.

This is a hands-on, field-based role focused entirely on delivering high-quality maintenance work -with no sales responsibilities. You will directly lead a three-person gardening crew while simultaneously overseeing a second three-person crew directed by a Lead Gardener. What You’ll Do:

  • Team Leadership: Manage two gardening teams totaling six members. You will directly lead Crew 1 (yourself + two technicians) and oversee a Lead Gardener who runs Crew 2 (Lead + two technicians).
  • Hands-On Execution: Work alongside your team to execute all aspects of garden maintenance, including weeding, mulching, fertilizing, planting, and pruning using best horticultural practices.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for residential clients, building strong relationships through proactive updates and regular site visits.
  • Seasonal & Plant Health Care: Adjust maintenance schedules for spring cleanouts, summer care, and fall cutbacks. Diagnose plant health issues and communicate solutions or refer to plant health care specialists.
  • Daily Operations: Assign tasks, provide clear direction, and ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and company standards across both crews.
  • C oordination & Logistics: Work with project managers and internal teams to integrate maintenance with other services. Manage materials, track labor usage, and minimize downtime on job sites.
  • Team Development: Evaluate team performance and provide constructive feedback to support the skill development of your technicians and Lead Gardener.

What You Bring:

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and garden maintenance best practices.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing crews and delegating tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client and team interactions.
  • Proficiency in safely operating garden equipment and vehicles.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and professional email.
  • Excellent physical fitness and the ability to perform outdoor labor in various weather conditions.
  • A reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and highly observant work ethic.
  • Preferred: Horticultural or gardening certifications.

  • Must be detail-oriented, observant, and diligent
