The Littleton Symphony Orchestra, in its 42nd season, is a community orchestra working to fulfill its vision of providing performances that elevate the human spirit. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a local institution while maintaining a flexible, part-time schedule.
The Opportunity
● Role Type: Part-Time contractor
● Compensation: $12,500 – $20,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. No other benefits.
● Time Commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours per week
● Schedule: Flexible weekday hours, with required attendance at monthly evening video board meetings, concerts, rehearsals as needed, and other scheduled events
● Location: Littleton, Colorado (local presence required for events/meetings)
● Reports To: Board of Directors
Key Responsibilities
As the Chief Executive Officer of the LSO, you will oversee operations in a manner consistent with our vision and values.
● Leadership & Administration: Supervise a dedicated team of paid and volunteer staff and oversee all daily activities.
● Financial Stewardship: Collaborate with the Treasurer and Board to draft and maintain the annual budget.
● Production & Event Management: Partner with leadership to manage timelines for the annual season, community engagement events, marketing, and program materials. You will oversee the production and management of all organization events.
● Strategic Growth: Work alongside the Board and Strategic Planning Committee to implement long-range plans for the organization’s growth and sustainability.
● Development & Outreach: Lead and coordinate fundraising initiatives, cultivate donor relationships, and represent the organization as a visible leader within the Littleton community.
Qualifications
● Proven Leadership Experience: Minimum of one year of experience serving as an Executive Director, high-level leader, or active board member within a non-profit, arts organization, or similar professional entity.
● Professional Governance: Demonstrated experience with board governance and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and donors.
● Operational Excellence: Ability to plan and direct operations with disciplined budgetary accountability and adherence to established timelines.
● Classical Music Environment: Ability to understand and effectively interact within a classical music setting.
● Tech Savviness: Comfort with modern data systems, digital communication tools, and website maintenance oversight.
● Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to solve problems creatively and strategically.
