The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncologycomprisesspecialists dedicated to providing the best possible care for patients with cancer and blood disorders. Our Community Hematology Oncologysection (CHO),is focused on keeping patients close to home while receiving high-quality university care. Function/Duties of Position The Knight Cancer Institute, Division of Hematology & Medical Oncologyis seeking two (2) Advanced Practice Providers(APPs) who will supportthe Community HematologyOncology clinics inourBeaverton, NW Portland, Tualatin, EastPortland,and Greshamlocations. OHSU classification :Clinical AssociateAPP Location : Multiple sites in Portland, OR andthesurrounding areas Schedule :10 hourshifts, 4 days per week, may include weekends and holidays Position Summary: This positionwillseepatients in theCommunity Hematology Oncology(CHO)section, covering ambulatory, infusion, and hospital areas across multiple sites all days of the week. Clinical duties include: Addressurgent needs and evaluate thepatientsituationanddeterminethe tolerance of the treatment; Review labsandmodifyorders as needed See new patients in conjunction with attendingphysician; Write chemotherapy orders whentreatmentplan has beeninitiatedby attending physician in compliance with credentialed privileges Manage patient anticoagulation, asappropriate Respond to nurse questions and patient situation in the infusion room Work closely with phone triage staff to manage patient issues and problems and see patientsas add-on/walk-ins,asappropriate Admitpatients to community hospitals.asappropriate incollaboration with attendingphysician Roundonpatientsin community hospitals,as requested by attendingphysicianin compliance with community hospital credentialed privileges. On call only as back-up for attendingphysicianduring weekdays. Research duties include: Assistinidentifyingpatients eligible for clinical trials Participate in research projects as appropriate Use research and evidence-based practice in the delivery of quality patient care. Educational duties include: Participates in the development of patient education tools and programs Provides individualized patient education on aspects of Oncology Assumes responsibility for educating others on aspects of Oncology and hematologic malignancies. Participates in the teaching of medical students, housestaffand fellows Required Qualifications Nurse Practitioner: Current and active Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges DEA certificate ANCC (or equivalent) certification Physician Assistant: Current and active Physician Assistant license for the State of Oregon DEA certificate Preferred Qualifications Oneor moreyearofexperience asan APP Oneor moreyearofexperiencein oncology Experience working in research and with experimental therapeutics Experience with EPIC and Beacon Exposure to clinical trial research Additional Details Apply online.
